What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a markdown file at your site root that gives AI crawlers a curated summary of your website: what it is, who runs it, and annotated links to the pages that matter most. It is the AI-search counterpart to robots.txt and sitemap.xml.

llms.txt: frequently asked questions
llms.txt is a plain-markdown file at your site root (yoursite.com/llms.txt) that gives AI systems a curated summary of what your site is and links to its most important pages. It follows the llmstxt.org convention: an H1 with the site name, a blockquote summary, and sections of annotated links.
Google has not committed to llms.txt. It is an emerging convention read by a growing number of AI tools and crawlers. It costs nothing to add, it cannot hurt, and it gives any AI system that does read it your preferred framing of your site.
Upload it to your web root so it is reachable at https://yoursite.com/llms.txt, the same place as robots.txt. On WordPress, most SEO or file-manager plugins can place it; on a static host, drop it in the public folder.
No. robots.txt controls whether crawlers may access pages. llms.txt describes your site to AI systems that already have access: what it is, who runs it, and which pages best represent it. They complement each other.
Disclaimer
This free tool generates a file following the llmstxt.org convention. llms.txt is an emerging convention, not a ratified web standard: some AI systems read it, others (including Google, so far) have not committed to it. Adding one cannot hurt and takes minutes, but it is not a guarantee that any AI system will read, honor, or cite your site. Everything you type stays in your browser; nothing is uploaded or stored. The generated file is yours to use however you like.
